Nutrition and Mental Health in Brisbane: A Word About Alcohol

Nutrition and Mental Health in Brisbane: A Word About Alcohol

One of the best tools that we’ve found to help with managing Post Traumatic Stress and improving mental health is our diet. The food we use to fuel our bodies is so important to the processes that happen in our brain.

Over the next few weeks, we want to talk about what we’ve learned as far as nutrition, and what is working for us. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want more details! KEEP IN MIND: we are not nutritionists or medical doctors, so be sure to consult yours before starting any new program.

KNOW THYSELF!

Alcohol is a drug — a socially acceptable drug, but a drug nonetheless.

According to www.caron.org, about 88,000 people die of alcohol-related causes every year in the United States. It’s the third-leading cause of preventable death in the country.

It’s up to you to know how alcohol affects you. If you can have a drink or two and really enjoy it, do that. If you can’t drink one without drinking ten, then don’t start.

Set yourself up for wins when it comes to alcohol consumption, because it can have a huge impact on your mental health.
